Are You Going Forward While Looking Backwards?

Sep 8, 2013

When your driving down the road do you drive down the road looking through your rear view mirror? If not...why?
Of course!! You would wreck!!
Many people go through life looking out their rear view mirrors. Their rear view mirrors of pain, hurt, dissatisfaction, disappointment, abuse, neglect....etc..
It is easy to go through life knowing what we should and should not do and even giving advice to others. But it is much easier to GIVE the advice then to act upon it ourselves.
When we dwell on the things of our past we are blocking the blessings that are right before us.

If God was willing to sacrifice His only Son so that we may have freedom from our past, present and future, then why do we choose to dwell on it? Or permit others to continuously remind us of our past in order to elevate their own personal recognition and gain, in order to keep us from growing spiritually and moving forward?

Romans 16:17
17.Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. 18.For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.…

2 Thessalonians 3:6
6. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

As believers in Christ and children of the Almighty God Himself, we are to release our past and not dwell on it. Do not permit others to dwell within it either. Do we place ourselves above God to hold bitterness and anger towards ourselves or another, when He Himself has been so righteous to forgive us of those same sins and transgressions?

Psalm 103:12
12. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

We are to quit looking into the rear view mirror of our lives. We are to forgive ourselves and others, as God has already forgiven us and those that have transgressed against us.
We are not to look into the rear view mirror of another's life, unless we choose to stand in judgment before God ourselves, and be judged for our own transgressions.

The windshield is wide, clear, and open to permit God to lead us where we need to go, so we can AVOID the obstacles in front of us, and receive His blessings and promises.
Why spend time looking into that little tiny mirror that looks behind us at our past? We cannot change what happened a few seconds ago, let alone a few years ago.

Satan is ready to pounce on us at every turn in the road already. He does not need any help from us! Be prepared! Time to look out of the windshield of life and turn the rear view mirror away to keep from being distracted from Gods will.
The Battle is ahead.....not behind!

1 Peter 5:8
8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
